DALI-2 Data

DALI-2 Luminaire, Energy & Diagnostic Data

Data is specified in Parts 251, 252 and 253
DALI-2 certification is available for LED drivers with some or all of Parts 251, 252 and 253
D4i certification requires all three data Parts (251, 252 and 253) as well as additional requirements

DALI-2 data

DALI-2 has standarized the storage and reporting of a rich set of data for enhanced asset management and real-time performance monitoring.

Data relates to the light source, the LED driver and the luminaire. The data is stored in DALI memory banks in the driver, with standardized formatting and locations.

The availability of DALI-2 data enables smart luminaires that can participate in the IoT.

D4i certification

D4i brings standardization to intra-luminaire DALI by specifying power-supply requirements and smart-data capabilities.

D4i drivers implement all of the data Parts 251, 252 and 253, and also have an integrated bus power supply (specified in Part 250).

D4i enables intelligent, connected, future-proofed LED luminaires.

Specification details

DALI-2 Luminaire Data

Includes luminaire data such as:

  • luminaire supply power & voltage
  • light output,
  • CCT & CRI,
  • light distribution
  • luminaire colour, and more.

Usage example: A manufacturer can encode data about the luminaire in the factory. When the luminaire is installed, the data is readily available to the lighting-control network. A utility company or lighting-installation owner could use this capability for automated commissioning, and to monitor and manage their lighting assets accurately and efficiently.

DALI-2 Energy Data
  • Active energy/power
  • Apparent energy/power
  • Load-side energy/power
DALI-2 Diagnostics Data
  • Failure conditions for control gear and lamps, including counters.
  • Control gear information: Operating time, start counter, supply voltage and frequency, power factor, temperature and output current.
  • Light source information: Operating voltage, current, temperature, light source start counter, light source on time.
