Job Opportunity: Marcom Manager

The DALI Alliance is seeking an experienced marketing communications (marcom) manager. This role is for an independent contractor working remotely.

Please note: Lighting industry experience is essential for this position


  • Report to and participate in Board meetings (bi-weekly online and quarterly in-person).
  • Marketing communications: Plan, Monitor, Measure, Communicate
  • Drive day-to-day Program promotional activities with the aim to increase the quality of the Program’s Marketing Communication, Including press releases, social media, communication with members etc.
  • Manage agencies and 3rd parties: Work with partners including agencies, media, industry bodies, members.
  • Manage website (with 3rd parties).
  • Prepare for and chair weekly Marcom team calls and bi-weekly NA marcom calls, and coordinate with marketing sub-group in China.
  • Book/plan/organise tradeshows in Europe and North America
    • Event organisation (trade fairs, speaking events, seminars, etc), preparation and coordination
    • Attend some events in person
  • Coordinate annual DALI Awards (with media/industry organisation partners):
    • Planning timelines, organizing launch, entries, preparing entries for judging, coordinating judging and enabling delivery of results (currently online).
  • Collect content for and produce the DALI Alliance newsletter. Send news updates to members.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external agencies to develop a strategic plan to ensure consistent brand messaging and communication.   
  • Oversee the development of goals, strategies, and implementation plans to execute comprehensive marketing campaigns.
  • Hold quarterly strategy sessions with the Promotional Marketing Team on messaging and marketing plans.
  • Solicit feedback from regional teams for better marketing penetration in the regions.
  • Messaging to attract new members to the DALI Alliance by illustrating benefits that will increase their ability to achieve success in the world of lighting.


  • Recognized qualification in marketing communications or strong relevant experience.
  • Demonstrable experience in a similar role.
  • Excellent English language communication skills, verbal and written. (other languages welcome but not essential).
  • IT literate, (competent in the use of MS Office, Adobe, etc).


  • Marketing knowledge and experience in the lighting industry or close equivalent (e.g. electronics/electrical).
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to develop working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Flexible and adaptable with strong time-management skills.


  • Experience of trade-show set-up and coordination is highly desirable.
  • Enthusiastic about travel – events are global, with a particular focus on Europe and North America.
  • Digital marketing knowledge is desirable.
  • Media (editorial/content creation) experience preferred.
  • Soft skill: conflict resolution, ability to manage different opinions and converge to a proposal.


  • This is a remote, independent contractor role, there is no office location.
  • Almost all regular meetings are online -you need to be comfortable (and disciplined) to work alone/remotely much of the time.
  • Location flexible, however: Team/partner meetings (online) are mostly in a European 9-5 Timeframe, therefore location, whilst flexible, will need to accommodate this on a daily basis.
  • Face to face Board meetings happen quarterly (duration 2 days each), usually in an accessible European location, attendance/participation will be required.
  • Although we are a truly global organisation all meetings and operations are conducted in English, therefore language skills are not essential beyond excellent fluent English.
  • This role would suit an experienced senior marketing/marcom focused freelancer with lighting industry experience.
