New testing and certification specifications for wireless to DALI gateways
New Jersey/Frankfurt am Main, December 10, 2025 – The DALI Alliance will participate in the world's leading trade fair, Light + Building, from March 8 to 13, 2026, in Frankfurt am Main. With more than a dozen of its member companies, the consortium will present a wide range of innovations and solutions for digital lighting control using the open DALI protocol in Hall 8.0, Booth D80A.
The DALI protocol is a future-proof platform for modern lighting systems based on the globally standardized IEC 62386 standard. “The DALI Alliance's commitment to continuous improvement ensures that DALI control systems remain at the forefront of technological progress and meets the changing requirements of the lighting industry in a dynamic market environment,” says Paul Drosihn, General Manager of the DALI Alliance.
Milestone: New certification for wireless gateways
The focus of the trade fair presentation at Light + Building 2026 will be on current developments, such as the new certification program for wireless to DALI gateways. They ensure that standardized gateways effectively translate between DALI systems and the wireless protocols Bluetooth NLC and Zigbee. Drosihn explains: “The introduction of these testing and certification specifications for wireless to DALI gateways is an important achievement. Thanks to this groundbreaking development, developers, manufacturers, and building automation professionals will now be able to offer a much wider range of solutions. At the same time, we are representing one of the top themes at Light + Building: smart connectivity.”
DALI+ bridges the gap between yesterday and tomorrow
Another highlight is the further expansion of the DALI protocol DALI+ for wireless and IP- based networks. DALI+ with Thread complements the existing DALI-2 standard and enables lighting designers to integrate the flexibility and precision of DALI into state-of-the-art smart buildings and IoT ecosystems. “DALI+ bridges the gap between traditional and future-proof technologies and sets new standards for lighting control,” says Drosihn.
Apply now for the DALI Lighting Awards
The DALI Alliance's exhibition stand at Light + Building 2026 is a central meeting place for members, trade visitors, politicians, and the media. It also serves as the stage for a presentation of the DALI Lighting Awards. Awards will be presented at a ceremony at the stand to the Award winners. The Awards recognize outstanding achievements in various Applications and Innovations, and honor outstanding projects that stand out for their creativity, technical expertise, and practical relevance. The DALI Lighting Awards recognize all types of lighting projects worldwide using DALI technology in 18 categories. Lighting and electrical designers, architects, engineers, installers, and manufacturers can submit their applications online free of charge. Deadline has recently been extended until January 16, 2026. For more information and to submit projects, visit www.dali-alliance.org/awards2026.
