Location Time Date
LFI Live Lounge (Booth #8157) 10:30-12:00 Wednesday 6th May

DALI-2 applications in human-centric lighting, smart luminaires and IoT connectivity

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the latest developments in DALI-2 and D4i certification and specifications, and how DiiA is working with Zhaga and ANSI.
  • Learn about DALI-2 features such as standardized dimming and tunable-white colour control, which can enable efficient, human-centric lighting schemes.
  • See how DALI-2 data can used for enhanced asset tracking, automated commissioning, predictive maintenance and many other purposes.
  • Discover ways in which DiiA is seeking to standardize the combination of wired DALI systems with wireless networking.

Summary:

Our seminar offers an overview of the latest developments in DALI-2 and explains the key benefits of this digital lighting-control protocol.
DALI-2 has a strong focus on product interoperability, backed by a robust certification program. DiiA continues to introduce more features and more product types—such as sensors and application controllers—to DALI-2.

Communication is robust, due to DALI-2’s digital nature, and is also bi-directional, enabling feedback. A recent addition to DALI-2 is the capability of LED drivers to store and report a rich set of data relating to the luminaire, the driver and the light source.

All DALI-2 LED drivers have compulsory attributes such as a standardized dimming curve. Optionally, DALI-2 drivers can now offer tunable-white colour control, enabling efficient and human-centric lighting schemes, especially when coupled with DALI-2 light-intensity and occupancy sensors.

DiiA’s new D4i certification program is aimed principally at intra-luminaire DALI, and simplifies the addition of sensors or wireless network nodes to luminaires. When coupled with standardized Zhaga sockets, D4i opens the way for smart, future-proof luminaires.

Our seminar will also discuss how to combine wired DALI systems with wireless networking, either via a gateway or by transmission of DALI commands over an underlying wireless carrier.
